Menstrual Problems
How Myofascial Release addresses it, and what to expect.
Menstrual problems refer to a range of irregularities, discomforts, or abnormalities in the menstrual cycle, which is the monthly series of changes a woman’s body goes through in preparation for the possibility of pregnancy. Menstrual problems can affect various aspects of the menstrual cycle, including its regularity, duration, and the intensity of associated symptoms.
Why fascia is involved
The uterus is held by fascia that can pull and restrict.
The uterus and ovaries are suspended in the pelvis by ligaments and fascia that attach to the sacrum, the pelvic bones and the abdominal wall. When that tissue is restricted, from past surgery, inflammation, injury, posture or stress, it can limit blood flow and lymph drainage, increase the intensity of cramping, and contribute to pain in the lower back and hips during the cycle.
Myofascial Release works with the pelvis, abdomen, hips and lower back to restore mobility around the reproductive organs. Sustained, gentle pressure lets the ligaments and fascia soften, which many women experience as milder cramps and a cycle that feels less disruptive. It complements, rather than replaces, care from a gynecologist.
