Infertility Problems

How Myofascial Release addresses it, and what to expect.

Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive or achieve a successful pregnancy after a year or more of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse. It is a reproductive health condition that can affect individuals or couples, and it may be caused by various factors in both men and women.

Why fascia is involved

Mobility around the reproductive organs matters.

The uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes need to move freely and receive good blood flow. Fascial restrictions and adhesions in the pelvis, from previous surgery, infection, endometriosis, injury or chronic stress, can pull on these organs, restrict circulation, and interfere with the mechanics of conception. The same restrictions often show up as pelvic pain, painful periods or painful intercourse.

Myofascial Release is used as a complement to fertility care, not a replacement for it. Therapists gently release the abdomen, pelvis, hips, tailbone and lower back to restore mobility and circulation around the reproductive organs and to reduce the physical stress the body is carrying. Couples often pair it with their medical plan while trying to conceive.
